Yoga has been a vital part of my life since 1998. A few years before, I had begun experiencing panic attacks accompanied by constant, general anxiety. Then I experienced shock and grief around my father’s cancer diagnosis, as well as a frightening health condition of my own. Conversations around mental health were not as commonplace then as they are today, so I didn’t actually have a name for what was happening, and it took some time to get an official diagnosis. The only therapy offered at the time was medication; I felt very alone and was unwilling to succumb to pharmaceuticals. I did the best I could. My father passed away 5 months later.
Not long after that, 2 more family members were diagnosed with what would end up being terminal cancer. I had by then become aware of Yoga, and as the anxiety (that had never left) escalated, I knew I needed help. I enrolled in a six-week beginning class series at one of my area’s few Yoga studios, and though I didn’t realize it at the time, my path was set. Over time, I found relief from anxious thoughts, and the panic attacks stopped.
While I can say that both anxiety and grief are still with me, they no longer run the show. I credit my Yoga path and all the teachers (including anxiety and grief!) that have walked along it with me, both on and off the mat, even though there have been periods of time that my practice has been only sporadic. As the Bhagavad Gita assures, “[o]n this path effort never goes to waste, and there is no failure. Even a little effort toward spiritual awareness will protect you from the greatest fear” (Eknath Easwaran).
I was initiated into the Himalayan Yoga tradition in 2001 by Dr. Rolf Sovik, received my teaching certificate from Susi Amendola in 2004, and taught classes for a decade while also running a massage therapy studio. In addition, it has been my honor to serve several times as a mentor in the YogaNow teacher training program, and I am excited to announce I'll be teaching the asana and anatomy weekends for their 2025/26 cohort!
After leaving my 17-year massage career and taking an extended break from teaching, I was drawn into the field of Yoga Therapy and enrolled in Inner Peace Yoga Therapy School’s 800-hour certification program in May of 2024. I'm on track to achieve full certification in mid-2026. I am a perpetual student of all things Yoga, and particularly love Sanskrit studies.
All are welcome in my practice. OM shanti.

While asana classes are wonderful communities, and the physical practices of Yoga are healing and powerful, Yoga Therapy is a completely tailored approach that honors each person's path.
Yoga Therapy is:
Evidence-based: there are numerous studies showing how the various practices of Yoga are beneficial for many physical and mental conditions, including cancer care, depression, insomnia, chronic pain, and so many more. Learn more here!
Individualized: group classes are not structured to fully address an individual's needs. Yoga Therapy 1:1 sessions take into account the whole individual -- their body, mind, spirit, & community -- and the therapist and client co-create a practice that aims to serve the client through their current challenges and beyond.
Empowering: the client learns to listen to and follow the rhythms of their own bodily, mental, energetic, and spiritual states in order to continue to care for themselves as their life unfolds, even after our sessions come to an end.
(Yoga Therapy is not, however, a licensed health care profession in the state of Nebraska, and Yoga Therapists do not diagnose mental or physical health conditions.)
