Yoga Therapy is a way of working with people that addresses the whole individual, and acknowledges that whatever we're going through affects ALL parts of our life. It's a bio-psycho-social-spiritual therapy for whole-person wellness.
There is a growing body of scientific research that shows just how effective yoga and mindfulness practices can be for a variety of issues and conditions.
In individual sessions, I educate and empower clients as we work together in finding new ways to navigate their unique life challenges and changes -- such as grief, career moves, anxiety, new phases of life -- using simple and accessible tools from the Yoga tradition that most people don't yet know about. Offering gentle yoga classes in Omaha & Yoga Therapy student work

Yoga philosophy and practice have been a balm and a respite through my life’s biggest storms, and I deeply enjoy guiding others to what’s possible when body and mind unite through the breath, both on and off the mat.
The work of yoga therapy is, at its heart, about our humanness and connection. For this and for many other reasons, not least of which is concern for our shared Environment, I do not willingly or knowingly use AI for any purposes in this practice.
While there are fields in which AI usage may be appropriate or warranted, I do not believe Yoga or Yoga Therapy to be among them.
This means that under no circumstances will I give practices, scripts, or recommendations that are regurgitated from a mechanical platform. Everything that I offer and that you and I create together is holistic: human-designed and human-implemented, born of life experience, wisdom tradition, and reflection, and supported by good science.
In addition, rest assured that all writing on this site and in associated newsletters and other correspondence comes only from the head, heart, and hands of Andrea Porter. Any original content created by other humans that appears on this site will be given appropriate attribution and citation; if you wish to quote from this site, I ask that you do the same.
